Eco-responsibility in tech: progress or greenwashing?
MH
Tech brands are betting on eco-responsibility. But beyond the marketing, what are they really doing to reduce their environmental impact?
Apple now uses 100% recycled tin in its iPhones. Samsung offers an extended trade-in program. Packaging has been reduced by 40% on average. But reality is more complex: product lifespan remains limited, repairability is improving slowly, and software obsolescence persists. Repairability scores (1 to 10) force brands to be transparent, but consumers rarely check them. Real progress may come from European regulations on minimum lifespan.
